Michael was born into an Italian-American and Native American family. He was born in the Chicago area. As a child, Michael never considered himself to be any different from those around him.  However that changed once he started attending school, when Michael would draw pictures, he would shade a golden light around the person or object. Michael can remember when his teacher asked, why would he included a golden light around everything he drew. Michael remembers telling her, "because everything has a light around them".  not realising that being able to see auras is not something that most people can do.  So, when Michael asked his mother, why would the teacher asked him that, she explained how he was given a gift which made him special. Michael's mother wasn't surprised when she saw his  drawings, since psychic abilities weren't out of the ordinary in their family.  She knew that he was going to need all the support that she could give him. The next few years, Michael's mother helped develop and control his gifts. She bought him books on every subject, she thought would help him have a better understanding about his gift. They would play what they called the "color game". She would think of a color and would send it to him through her thoughts. Michael always knew the correct color. The "Knowing Gift" was just as normal to him as anything else and it became a part of his everyday life as a child.

 

As Michael Gourley grew into his early teens, things became a little more challenging. What seemed so normal as a child no longer did. Imagine having a gift no one understood, on top of your regular teenage issues. At first he did not realize but his friends started to act different around him because they did not understand why and how Michael would know things that they never mentioned and when the word started to get around that Michael was seeing spirits and claiming to be delivering their messages, Michael began to find himself alone and it was getting harder to keep friends. So, Michael decided to put all his efforts in his gifts, since it was the one thing no one could take away from him.  

 

Michael Gourley's gift was so strong when he turned 17, that his visions could not be ignored. He started writing everything down on paper to get it out of his head. When the media heard news of a young man whose predictions and medium abilities were so incredible that they decided to publish his predictions, his predictions were so accurate that they did a follow-up article the following year, and invited him back year after year.  Since Michael was able to provide detailed predictions which were well documented in newspapers and radio stations, that he was the youngest Psychic Medium asked to join America's Best Psychics.  After a couple of years he was on the right track..... so he thought. With all this new founded success also came the downside to this gift. Michael had unanswered questions himself. The responsibilities that came with his gifts started to take its toll on him. How could he help people when he still didn't understand his gift? Michael decided to walk away from everything to seek answers he still had about his gifts and his process.

 

The next few years Michael Gourley tried to live a so-called normal life. He went back to school and tried being "normal". but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't run away from his abilities. Michael tried blocking his visions, the feelings he would get, and most important, the guilt. The guilt of knowing things and not being able to help. Since Michael didn't want to open that door again, after a while Michael could not tell his own thoughts from those around him. Michael was seeking guidance. He turned to religion and meditation. He studied one after another. Michael was not satisfied with the unanswered questions he still had.
